=Guidelines (COVID-19 times)=

The Board of Regents, through the UP President, issued a policy on how the faculty and students will react in relation to handling the courses during the 2nd Semester of the Academic Year (AY) 2019-2020.

==Implementing Rules and Regulations==

The Office of the President issued last 23 April 2020, an implementing guidelines entitled “[https://drive.google.com/a/science.upd.edu.ph/file/d/1Vr_gF9ZX_gmxkY6G5dQIumKPqSDiX8yw/view?usp=drivesdk  UP System Policy on the Second Semester AY 2019-2020 in the Time of COVID-19]”.

The document cited the following among others as the guiding principles and reason for issuing the IRR.

* UP suspended classes even alternative modes since 17 March 2020 up to the end of the ECQ in Luzon and other parts of the country on 30 April 2020.

* The guidelines aims to reduce, if not completely remove, confusion as regards to its implementation and operationalization of the BOR policy previously issued.

Some salient points can be easily notified.

===Suspension of classes===

* First point. What about this?

* Second point. What about this?

Or this?

===Grades and grading system===

'''''Faculty options in giving grades'''''

* With sufficient basis for giving grades:

** If student is passing, give a numeric grade.

** Else defer/delay giving grade. Students can comply until 31 May 2021.

* Without sufficient basis

** Defer/delay giving grade. Students have up to 31 May 2021 to complete the adjusted course requirements.

Notable policies are:

* No student shall be given a grade of 4.0, 5.0 or INC for courses in the Second Semester AY 2019-2020.

* DRP given for the Second Semester AY 2019-2020 shall be annotated in the Transcript of Records with an asterisk (due to COVID-19).

* There’s a procedure for seeking authority to give a grade of Pass (P).

** Deadline of application: 15 May 2020

** The faculty may do this for select students only, in the same class.

** Faculty requests the President “THRU: CHANNELS” (UC Chancellor endorses through OVPAA for eventual consideration of the BOR).
